Yogic Diet

Food has a tremendous influence on our mind.

From the subtlest portion of food, the mind is made. If the food we eat is impure then our mind and thinking will be impure also.

A sattvika vegetarian diet increases vitality, vigour and good health.

Sattvika diet results in a healthy body and calm mind.

We should eat with cheerful acceptance.

One who shares his food with others, no matter how little it may be, will never go hungry. This is also a karmic law.

When a person is trying to combat stress through yoga it is better to follow a complete vegetarian diet for the first three months.

Avoid smoking and drinking.

Dinner should be as early as possible.

Watch your breath for some time before you eat.

Five minutes of abdominal breathing in shavasana before the night meal has many benefits.

Maintaining silence or mouna while eating is very important.

Be totally aware of what you are eating. Do not hurry. Relax. Give your full mind to the process.

Do not watch T.V., read book, or listen to music while eating.

Five minutes of Vajrasana after meal is excellent. Sit in Vajrasana, close your eyes, view the day so far and the events that have taken place.
